In January 2012, during my first week working at the Red Cross, I was asked to photograph a fundraiser for the organization. It was a lot of fun, and evidently I did a good job, because I was asked to shoot another event this week. The “Flirting for Disaster” events are held at various trendy venues, typically involve drawings for awesome prizes donated by local businesses, and offer a great opportunity to mingle with other professionals.
When I wandered in to The House of Blues Tuesday I was greeted by the kind and familiar faces of my Red Cross friends. Though I don’t get to see them often, it’s very easy to pick up right where we left off. I hope to continue to volunteer my photography services to the Chicago Red Cross for as long as I live in the area.
